The unit allows water to circulate by means of a centrifugal pump within a closed circular pipe. The measured flowrate gives access to velocity calculation and thus to the term relating to the kinetic energy.
Pressure in the line is adjusted by means of two valves located at the pump outlet and the reservoir return. This pressure takes place in the potential energy equation and is measured by two digital display transducers fitted upstream and downstream of the line being tested.
This pipe is orientable from the horizontal to the vertical, very simply by means of rotating hydraulic connections, and a mechanical system for holding in position, lockable by knurled nut. This height variation is measured and is involved in another term relating to the potential energy.
Finally, it is necessary to calculate any regular pressure losses along the pipe.
